HEIMAT TOUR - Hike & movie house

PRE-MORNING - HEIMAT HIKE

A day full of local history awaits you today and we start at 9 a.m. after breakfast. We set off for the village of Gehlweiler. A place of home movies and also the start of the “Heimat” hiking trail. This takes you past the sets of the Heimat film and through part of the beautiful Soonwaldsteig trail.

 
MIDDAY - Small lunch snack

You have packed our packed lunch for a little refreshment on the way. For coffee and cake, we recommend the Dhein bakery in Simmern. From there, the day's program continues.

AFTERNOON - Edgar Reitz Film Museum

Experience the Hunsrück and its moving history. In the former workshop of the Ziegelmayer building complex, everything revolves around the director's cinematic work and the HEIMAT trilogy. It shows numerous props from all parts of the series, including the newly acquired war memorial from HEIMAT 1. Since 2024, the film “DIE ANDERE HEIMAT” has also been incorporated into the exhibition. Because the Hunsrück commemorates “200 years of emigration to Brazil”.
