HERRSTEIN - Bergwerk & Schinderhannes

PRE-MORNING -

We set off by car towards Idar Oberstein and turn right before Idar Oberstein towards Fischbach. At the end of the village, turn right towards the copper mine. It is best to book a tour early enough so that you can experience everything about your time in the mine. A young team awaits you on site and will accompany you underground.

 
MIDDAY - Small lunch snack

Now it's on to the historic town of Herrstein. Nowhere else in the Nahe-Hunsrück region is a medieval town so well preserved. We stroll through the town and can enjoy a famous “gefillter Klos” in the tithe barn - TIP: take one for two if you're not that hungry - or a delicious home-baked cake with a cup of coffee.

AFTERNOON - grinding shop

If you still have some time left, why not take a trip to Weiherschleife Asbacher Hütte, where you will be shown how gemstones were cut in the past, using traditional techniques that are still used today. Cutting, shaping, grinding and polishing.
